Mental Health Counselor

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Mental Health Counselor to join our inclusive and neurodiversity-affirming practice. This is a W-2 hourly position with a focus on providing high-quality clinical care. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with a group of dedicated, neurodiversity-affirming clinicians and build community.

What You’ll Do:

  • Provide both Telehealth and in-office therapy out of our Amherst or Portsmouth offices to your preferred population and/or specialization with the opportunity to grow into your clinical interests.

  • Complete documentation in a timely and compliant manner

  • Develop and implement strength-based treatment plans

  • Collaborate with providers, family members, and our diverse clinical team

  • Participate in company-involved events, team meetings, supervision (if needed), and trainings

Compensation Details:

This is a W-2 hourly position with pay based on licensure and number of clients seen per week. Pay is $60/hour for pre-licensed clinicians and $70/hour for licensed clinicians, based on experience. Additional time for documentation, meetings, and trainings is also paid.

To give you a sense of earning potential (based on 50 working weeks per year):

    • Pre-licensed: approx. $30,000/year

    • Licensed: approx. $35,000/year

  • 15 clients/week

    • Pre-licensed: approx. $45,000/year

    • Licensed: approx. $52,500/year

  • 20 clients/week

    • Pre-licensed: approx. $60,000/year

    • Licensed: approx. $70,000/year

  • 25 clients/week

    • Pre-licensed: approx. $75,000/year

    • Licensed: approx. $87,500/year

  • 30 clients/week

    • Pre-licensed: approx. $90,000/year

    • Licensed: approx. $105,000/year

  • 40 clients/week

Client Care & Intake Coordinator

Location: Hybrid (must be within driving distance for occasional in-person needs)

Compensation: $20/hour

Hours: 5–10 hours/week to start with opportunity to grow to full-time with benefits (and in-office full-time)

Healing Roots is a neurodiversity-affirming outpatient mental health practice dedicated to creating a safe, supportive space for healing, self-understanding, and growth. We're currently seeking a Client Care & Intake Coordinator to join our team in a part-time, hybrid role with the potential for growth to full-time and benefits.

This role is an entry-level position ideal for someone who is organized, personable, and responsive—someone who enjoys being the first point of contact for new clients and making the intake experience smooth and welcoming. You’ll be handling a mix of administrative work, insurance coordination, and client communication, all while helping our practice run smoothly and compassionately. At Healing Roots, we believe in caring for our team—because we can’t care for others if we’re not cared for ourselves. You will be thoroughly trained and led through all responsibilities to ensure your success.

Responsibilities

Client Intake & Communication

- Respond to new inquiries via phone, email, and online forms

- Guide clients through the intake process with warmth and professionalism

- Collect and manage intake documentation, including releases and consents

- Follow up with clients to ensure all required paperwork is completed

Insurance & Claims Support

- Verify client insurance benefits and communicate coverage details

- Submit claims through our billing platform

- Track and follow up on unpaid or denied claims

- Coordinate with clinicians on documentation and authorizations

Administrative Support

- Keep client records and intake logs organized and up to date

- Monitor client flow, availability, and scheduling coordination

- Maintain HIPAA compliance and confidentiality

- Support day-to-day administrative tasks as needed

Requirements

- Friendly, approachable, and client-centered communication style

- Detail-oriented, reliable, and highly organized

- Able to respond promptly to emails and phone calls during business hours

- Comfortable using electronic platforms or quick learner (we use TherapyNotes and Google Workspace)

- Experience in a mental health or medical setting is a plus

Additional Details

- Hours: 10 hours/week to start, with flexibility and room to grow

- Remote Work: Must reside within driving distance for possible in-person needs

- Compensation: $20/hour, depending on experience

- Full-Time Transition: When this position becomes full-time, the role will include benefits such as Medical, Dental, Vision, Life and Pet Insurance, 401K, and PTO.
